Student Application: Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice -- SI Delegation 2018
GENERAL INFORMATION
Where: Washington, DC
When: Friday, November 2 -Monday, November 5, 2018

Who: Sponsored by the Office of Community Service & Social Justice, a delegation of students (Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors are eligible) and faculty facilitators will be sent to represent SI. We will join other Jesuit Universities and High Schools, and other Ignatian companions for a weekend of social justice education, networking and prayer.

Cost: $400 (includes airfare to/from SFO, accommodations, transportation, registration and other fees and meals)

This Teach-In will involve two days of direct social justice education, learning collaboratively with other Jesuit schools on issues of primary concern related to the criminal justice system, the environment, migration policies and the U.S relationship with Central and South America. The goals of the Teach-In for Justice are to:
• Explore injustices occurring in today’s society;
• Recognize that we are all given the gift of human dignity; and
• Learn and understand how human dignity and respect has been denied to many in various parts of the world.
Our aim is to empower student leaders to return to SI with the skills, education, and experience needed to engage others in reflection and discussion on justice and respect for human life.

Prior to the trip, all members of the SI delegation are expected to participate in a series of community building and educational workshops. These meetings are required. They are a mandatory aspect of participation in this program. Formation Meetings will be held weekly beginning the week of October 1.

APPLICATION PROCESS
• Sophomore, Juniors, and Seniors will be considered for this delegation. Applications will be reviewed anonymously with the exception of past participants. Past participants may be considered for a leadership role.
• If you have a conflict with any of the preparatory meetings*, please notify us in your application. Otherwise, we will assume that you are able to attend every session.
• Please make sure to read your SI email, as we may contact you to set up an interview if further information is needed.
