Referrals to SAGE Academy generally originate from the home school and parents/guardians.
SAGE Academy is designed for students with unique educational challenges and for those requiring a non-traditional pathway towards graduation. The state of North Carolina requires high school students to complete at least 22 specific credits in order to receive a high school diploma. SAGE Academy offers high school students who have struggled at their assigned traditional schools in 9th and 10th grade an opportunity to repair credit lost and earn the 22-credit diploma.
SAGE Academy also offers an Evening Academy Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30-6:00 designed for students who need credit recovery, or who have fallen behind in their graduation track.
The following pages contain a student application, student and parent consent and a education contract These items, along with the school packet (separate document), must be completed before a student is considered for admission to SAGE Academy. This packet is designed to determine the needs of the student in areas of academics/non-traditional programming, attendance, medical, and social/behavioral.
Once the referral packet (complete with information from the student and the home school) is received in the office of SAGE Academy, a meeting of the SAGE Academy Placement Review Committee will evaluate all applications and begin an interview process. Applicants will be contacted and invited to attend, with their parent/guardian, an interview to determine the possibility of enrollment.
Decisions for placement in SAGE Academy will be made twice a year (at the end of the first semester, and at the end of the school year). End of year placements will be for assignment at SAGE Academy for the following school year.
