The Millet Revival Project in association with Rainmatter Foundation is our modest attempt to demystify cooking with millets and relearn the impact they have on our ecology. This project aims to facilitate gradual incorporation of millets into our diets, as well as create a space for meaningful conversation and engagement so that we can act upon the different challenges and opportunities associated with them.
The Millet Revival Project is a systematic exploration of the impact of millets on the ecology and climate in India, and a facilitation of behavioural and perception change within consumers to enable eating practices that are good for the people and the planet.
Through the four dedicated research labs - Climate & Policy, Editorial, Millet Resources and Cooking Lab, we are looking to systematically address gaps and challenges within the millet landscape in India, through various different perspectives.
The cooking lab under the Millet Revival Project will be engaged in exploring, sourcing, and documenting different methods of cooking millets and millet-based recipes. The primary outcome of these engagements will be recipes on The Locavore and MRP website, the Millet Cookbook, and a Know Your Millets section on The Locavore & MRP website. These recipes will also be used for events and other engagements and collaborations that will showcase the work of the project to a broader audience.
Given all of the different events and activities we have planned for this project, we would really appreciate a few more hands on deck! We are actively looking for chefs from across the country to help us revive millets in meaningful ways.
