As a member of the 2021 Arbor View High School Marching Band, I agree to abide by the following policies and procedures. I further understand that for the betterment of the band, a violation of any one of these policies will result in me being assigned as an alternate or removal from the Arbor View Band program.

1. Attendance Policy:
REHEARSAL: All rehearsals are mandatory. Students must show up early to have enough time to be set up with instruments and equipment. Students involved in Arbor View Athletics must communicate with the directors and coaches if either activity will overlap each other. Once the school year begins, a class grade will be given for each rehearsal. If a student is absent from rehearsal the week leading up to a performance, it is the directors' discretion to not have that member perform. This is a safety precaution. Two weeks notice is required for any missed rehearsal or performance.

CAMPS:
There are a few camps that we hold throughout the year. The main band camp is required and held before the school year begins. We also hold percussion and color guard clinics in the spring. Students earn credit towards varsity letters, participation pins, and PE2 class credit for everything outside of class time.

PERFORMANCES:
All performances are mandatory. Absences from performances affects how the entire band performs and will lower scores achieved at competitions. Any absence must have prior approval of the Band Director at least TWO WEEKS PRIOR.  Any additional performance or practices not on the calendar will be part of this contract if a two week (14 days) notice is given. All performances will be treated as an "assessment" in the grade book since we are a performance-based curriculum.

2. All music and drill must be memorized for the competition show. Additionally, the school fight song and the National Anthem must be memorized before the first home football game. Music must be passed off to section leaders, designated staff and/or Director. Section leaders are there to help you so please use their help with music.

3. Attendance at sectionals is required and are scheduled by the section leaders. Any absence must have prior approval.

4. Any CCSD sponsored activity must meet academic guidelines. When competing members must contain a 2.0  GPA. Grades will be checked periodically.

5. All fees are non-refundable and must be paid in compliance with the payment schedule.

6. To assure uniformity of the band, extremes in appearance such as hair color, jewelry, piercings, tattoos, hair over the collar, beards, mustaches, etc. are not permitted. The visual aspect of marching band and winter ensembles requires a professional appearance, which is included in the judging criteria.

7.  If you have a question, ask your section leader first. For the most part, they can help get you what you need. If the question is a personal/academic matter, please see one of the directors.

8. I agree that my social media posts will reflect the band program, staff and band members in a positive manner. Remember, you are what you tweet! Please be responsible in your social media communications and get in the habit of raising your peers up! Anything that is deemed  inappropriate will be immediately referred to the AVHS Administration.

9. I agree that I will take my instrument to be cleaned professionally by the end of the school year or I will be fined for the cost of any cleaning and repairs made to the instrument. Additionally, students sitting on instrument cases can be charged for a new case.

10. Payment Schedule

Fall Marching Band - $400 (Checks payable to AVHS or Arbor View High School)
Aug 23 - $150
September 27 - $150
October 25 - $100

Fees can also be paid to the banker. The fees above do not include items such as shoes, gloves, warm-ups, etc.
