The Dwight W. Hoover Scholarship for Graduate Studies in History, 2023-2024
After Professor Hoover's distinguished service at Ball State from 1959 to 1991, a person who studied under his guidance established this award as a tribute to him. Other members of this student's family have since joined in funding this scholarship, which is administered by the Department of History.

1. Ball State graduate students, or seniors who soon will become graduate students by next autumn at Ball State, are eligible for this award.
2. Students who show special interest in and/or potential for research in community history either in the United States or abroad are also eligible.
3. Award recipients must use these funds for educational expenses, such as tuition, books, or other materials used in coursework, or scholarly research or travel expenses.

Applicants must:
1. Arrange for two faculty members (preferably from the History Department) to write letters supporting your application and detailing your accomplishments and potential.
2. Submit a 500-word statement describing your research interest and how it affects your understanding of History.

Selection and Notification: Decisions awarding assistance and determining the form and amount of aid are made by the Merit and Scholarship Committee of the Department of History after careful evaluation of all applications. All applicants will be notified as soon as possible of the Committee’s decision(s).

Deadline: February 28, 2023 at 11:59pm.
