11th/12th Grade @ Am Shalom
This year, we will be offering our 11th & 12th graders an opportunity to continue their Jewish development through thoughtful conversations about the many topics that matter to them as well as further integration into their synagogue community. We will be meeting once a month on Wednesday evenings. They will be served dinner prior to their learning with Rabbi Anne Persin and others.

This program will have 2 components:
One Wednesday evening a month (6:15 - 7:45pm), there will be dinner & a Jewish perspective discussion on topics such as drugs, LGBTQ, and climate change. We will even touch upon the reality of Israel - going beyond the hope and dream. (September-May)

One Shabbat a month, we ask that each student comes to either a Saturday Morning Torah study (9:00 am) or a Friday night service (6:30 pm). Not only does this give our older teens the opportunity to engage in our traditions and texts in a meaningful way, but these are also spaces where their thoughts and ideas will be taken seriously.

We are so committed to our older teens’ Jewish education that each student who attends at least two-thirds of the program this year will receive a $180 scholarship.

There is no cost for this program but we do require registration.

On occasion classes may leave the building. If students take a field trip where they leave the immediate area, are transported by bus, or have hours different from the norm, I understand that I will be notified by a separate letter and such trips would require a permission slip.

I give permission for my child(ren) to leave the building for outdoor activities within close walking distance, and I understand that every precaution will be taken with his/her care and transportation. I will assume any liability for any injury incurred.

If I cannot be reached in case of an emergency, I give officials permission to render any emergency care deemed necessary.

Among our most cherished Jewish values is the imperative for preserving life and maintaining health. We embrace this value specifically by taking preventive measures to protect the public health of our congregational community as a whole. We expect that the families and students in our school programs appropriately follow medical guidelines with regard to vaccinations and illness.

We believe that all have a right to a safe and healthy school environment. We expect every person in our community to promote mutual respect, tolerance, and acceptance. Students and parents will not intimidate, harass, or bully others through words or actions.

Occasionally Am Shalom staff take pictures or make videos of our school programs. We use these to decorate our halls and classrooms, on our lobby display units, on social media, and to publicize school and synagogue programs. Teachers may choose to distribute pictures or videos of children in their class to the entire class to further enhance their classroom experience. We also stream our sanctuary Shabbat and holiday services in which your child might appear. I grant Am Shalom permission to record and use photographs/videos of my child(ren) in any medium for educational, promotional, or other purposes that support the mission of the congregation.
