WELLNESS AND HEALTH PROMOTION
In support of Jesuit Values, the mission of the Office for Wellness and Health Promotion is to enhance the health and well-being of the Seattle University community by promoting healthy and sustainable behavior and supporting good health practices through education, prevention, collaboration, and peer support.


ABOUT THE HEALTH AND WELLNESS CREW
Members of HAWC are student volunteers who are trained in college student health, including physical wellness, mental health, alcohol and other drugs, and healthy relationships. All HAWC members receive training and certification as nationally recognized Peer Health Educators. HAWC exists to assess and address student health and wellness needs, and conduct a variety of health promotion activities all over campus.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• 2013 Leadership Blitz: April 27, 2013 (8:30am-5pm)
• Fall Training: September 12 - 21, 2013 (9am-5pm daily)
• Early Move-In: September 9 - 10, 2013 (for members living on campus)
• Team Meetings: 2 hours weekly (to be set at the beginning of each quarter)
• Office Hours: 2 hours weekly (to be set at the beginning of each quarter)
• 1:1 Meetings with advisor: 1 hour monthly (to be set at the beginning of each quarter)
• Winter In-Service: January 26, 2014 (9am-5pm)
• 2014 BACCHUS Conference: Spring Quarter TBA (strongly encouraged)
• 2014 Leadership Blitz: Spring Quarter TBA (8:30am-5pm)

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plan and execute campus wellness programs in collaboration with other members
• Serve as lead for at least one program
• Offer individual peer support to students
• Attend programs put on by the Health and Wellness Crew to support fellow team members

PERKS OF THE POSITION
• Over 40 hours of training in wellness and health topics, including a national peer health educator certification
• Large and small scale event and program planning experience
• Experience facilitating workshops and conversations
• Continued personal leadership and skill development
• Being valued in the SU community as a peer resource for wellness and health
• Access to office space and campus recourses

LENGTH OF TERM
• A full academic year (fall, winter, and spring quarters)
• All position selected this spring will officially start September 12, 2013.

• Wed., April 24: Selection Notifications Sent (via email)
• Sat., April 27: Leadership Blitz (PIGT various)

Membership in the Health and Wellness Crew is unlike any other student leader position on campus. It is a serious commitment with tremendous rewards and we ask that you carefully review all requirements as you decide to apply. Due to scheduling conflicts, we are aware that the following positions cannot be held at the same time as HAWC. We invite you to speak with us directly as you determine which leadership opportunity will be best for you next year.
