The Software Carpentry bootcamp is an on-site, two-day workshop, that covers the core skills needed for reproducible research:
-- the Unix shell and how to automate repetitive tasks;
-- Git and GitHub, and how to track and share work efficiently
-- R, and how to grow a program in a modular, testable way
Short tutorials alternate with hands-on practical exercises; you will work on your own laptop using native software. When the bootcamp is done, you will have a working environment with tools supporting reproducible research.
Lunch and coffee breaks will be provided.
Initial registration is limited to PhD students, faculty, and research staff in Kellogg, Economics, and Psychology. Registration is free, but seats are extremely limited, and it is expected and essential that registrants be present both days.
If you have registered and can no longer attend, please notify us immediately at
milhans@northwestern.edu.
PLEASE NOTE: THE BOOTCAMP IS NOW FULLY SUBSCRIBED. YOU MAY REGISTER, BUT YOU WILL BE ON A WAITING LIST.
