ShowPulse LoFi Prototype Usability Studies

Hi, and welcome to the usability study for the ShowPulse application! We hope you're doing well.

First of all, thank you so much for participating in this study. Please remember, this is not a test—there are no right or wrong answers. The goal of this session is to help us make the ShowPulse app better for all users. If you're unable to complete any task or find something confusing, it simply means we need to improve the app design or experience. Your honest feedback is what we value the most.

About the app— ShowPulse is an application designed to make it easy and enjoyable for movie lovers and theatergoers to find, check showtimes, and book tickets at their favorite cinemas. With ShowPulse, users can browse current and upcoming movies, filter showtimes based on their location and preferences, and seamlessly book or check in for a movie. The app also allows users to rate movies, join watch communities, and even get personalized recommendations based on their viewing history.

Here are the main instructions for this study:

  2. Follow each prompt asked in the questions below and answer the question related to that prompt. 
  3. Your personal data won't be collected or shared with anyone. Your responses here will be recorded and used to improve our apps and may be included in the case study.
  4. Kindly provide your email if you are okay with me contacting you for further details about the study or if I can contact you for future usability studies.
  5. Note that this is a low-fidelity prototype and will not include any kind of animations or polish and is supposed to be representative of different pages and placement of components.

Prompt 1: Open up the theater showtime check-in app on your phone and find a movie playing at your preferred theater. Talk me through your thought process.

How easy was it to find a movie and check available showtimes? What was easy, and what was challenging?

Prompt 2 : After booking a theater for your group, select your seat and add seats for multiple attendees. Then proceed to the confirmation screen.

Did anything feel complicated or confusing? 

Prompt 3 : Imagine you've just arrived at a theater and you're using the ShowPulse app to check in for your movie. Can you walk me through what you'd do first?

  Was anything unclear about what you needed to do?  
Prompt 4 :  You’ve completed your check-in. Now show me how you’d access your ticket or QR code to enter the theater.
  How easy was it to find your ticket?  
Prompt 5 : Overall, how would you describe your experience using the ShowPulse app today?
