Maryland Communication Association 42nd Annual Conference Call for Presentations

Please use this form to submit your presentation proposal for the 42nd annual MCA conference. The conference will be held at Bowie State University on March 5-6, 2027. An online pre-conference will also be held on Thursday March 4, 2027 and will feature workshops related to the conference theme and highlight top research submissions. The conference theme is It's Time to Talk: Where Academia and Industry Connect. Submissions related to the conference theme are especially encouraged, including those exploring education, digital media, social change, technology, cultural narratives, and intergenerational dialogue.

Proposals are due Friday, December 18, 2026, for faculty and professionals. Students have until Monday, December 21, 2026, to submit.

Acceptances will be sent by Friday, January 29, 2027.

What type of proposal are you submitting for presentation? *

MCA Scholarship Presentation (10-15 minutes): Individual paper presentations are research-based and explore communication scholarship, theories, and concepts.

MCA G.I.F.T.S. (Great Ideas for Teaching Students) Presentation (10-15 minutes): G.I.F.T.S should be classroom-tested activities, assignments, projects, simulations, or departmental initiatives.

MCA Professional Development Panel (5 minutes + Q&A): Colleagues in any communication-related career area are invited to share insights supporting students, recent alumni, and emerging professionals.

MCA Student Poster: The MCA Poster session offers a forum for undergraduate and graduate students to share their research with a diverse audience; posters can feature completed research or projects-in-progress.
