2019 Elementary Summer School Enrollment
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Republic School District summer school program is just around the corner!
Ms. Erin Wayt (Price Elementary Assistant Principal) and Ms. Markie Bravestone (Schofield Elementary Assistant Principal) will be leading summer school this year!

A few SLAM details are listed below. Please be sure to view all details regarding summer school at: https://www.republicschools.org/summerschool.

This year, elementary students will be Teaming Up With SLAM 2019 (Summer Learning and More). This SLAM session will have a sports theme centered around STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) activities. STEAM education encourages kids to ask questions, solve real world problems, think creatively, and be innovative. There are many exciting things happening at SLAM this year! There will be an assembly each week with guest speakers. Each grade level will be attending two field trips! Locations of field trips include bowling at Lighthouse Lanes, playing put-put at Fun Acre, going on a tour of the Missouri Hall of Fame, Drury's O’Reilly Event and Science Center, Hammons Field during Discovery Week, and Republic's Athletic Facility!

Summer school for elementary students will begin on May 28th and end on June 21st. School is in session each day, Monday through Friday. Summer SLAM time is 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. However, to ensure a smooth pick-up process, we are asking that adults picking up Kindergarten students arrive at 2:40 p.m., park and come in the building to pick up their Kindergarten student and any siblings. See summer school maps for details. SLAM will be available for students entering Kindergarten in the fall of 2018 through current 4th graders. Current 5th graders will attend summer school at Republic Middle School.

Just as last year, SLAM 2019 will be housed in two buildings. Since transportation is not provided during summer school, this will help us ensure a smooth traffic flow process for our community. Lyon and Schofield will be the two sites used. Lyon will house all students who will attend Lyon, Price, and Sweeny for the 2019-20 school year, while Schofield will house all students who will attend Schofield and McCulloch for the 2019-20 school year.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided for ALL students FREE of charge! Be sure to arrive in plenty of time to eat. Our doors will open at 7:45 a.m. each morning.

Summer school's open house will be on May 23rd from 5:00-7:00 p.m. This time will be provided to allow you to come to your assigned location (Lyon or Schofield), locate your room, drop off supplies, and meet your child's teacher. We’ll also share our transportation drop-off/pick-up expectations at that time.

We can't wait to see you there!
