Absences of 1 or 2 consecutive days requiring notification:
Parents/guardians must give advance notice of absences of 1 or 2 days to the building attendance office. The notice must state the reason(s) for the absence.
Absences of 3 consecutive days or more requiring approval:
Parents/guardians must request in writing pre-approval by the building principal for absences of 3 consecutive days or more. The request must be in writing as far in advance as possible but no less than three school days prior to the anticipated absence and must state the reason(s) for the absence. The principal will use professional judgment in making a decision, giving consideration to
・ the student’s current academic standing,・ the potential negative impact of the proposed absence on the student’s learning promotion, ・ whether there are any significant instructional activities or testing that would be difficult or impracticable to make upfollowing the absence,・ educational or skill development opportunity of the proposed experience, and・ the personal or family benefit resulting from the experiences.
