TLTC 2013 Grant Application

The Teaching and Learning with Technology Committee (TLTC) promotes best practices for teaching and learning. The committee will assess and promote student access to educational resources and technology tools. This committee will support faculty and staff by providing information on current instructional technology and its impact on student success. Additionally, this committee will identify and support early adopters of new technology. The committee will assist in prioritizing OTPS (Other than Personnel Services) and ETF (Equipment Trust Fund) requests for the upcoming budget year.

Purpose
The TLTC awards grants to encourage innovative and emerging technology in teaching and learning. These awards are typically NOT funded by the VCCS’s Professional Development Initiatives, the Equipment Trust Fund or the College’s regular operating budget. Faculty should consider proposing innovative and emerging technology projects that support the College’s vision statement:

As a student-oriented center for lifelong learning, Virginia Western Community College will meet the needs of our diverse community by providing comprehensive educational programs and workforce development.

Eligibility
All members of the Virginia Western faculty and staff are eligible to submit proposals.

Review Process/Evaluation Criteria
Members of the TLT Committee will review the proposals. Applicants may be asked to meet with the Committee to discuss their projects. In the proposal evaluation process, reviewers will consider the following factors:

• How this project is utilizing innovative and emerging technology in teaching and learning
• The significance of the project to the academic discipline
• Benefits to those who will participate in the project
• The potential for success
• The project’s effectiveness
• The population the project will serve
