Company Field Trip: Houston

Company Field Trip is an opportunity for business students to visit various companies in Houston to explore careers in corporate finance and investment banking in the energy segment. CFT Houston 2014 will take place from Thursday afternoon, March 27, 2014 to the morning of Saturday, March 29, 2014. We will be meeting at 5pm on Thursday, March 27 at LittleFiled Fountain, and you will be back in Austin around noon on Saturday, March 29. Companies that will be attending this CFT are BP, ExxonMobil, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, and ConocoPhillips. You will be required to attend all of the visits if accepted in the program. This application is due no later than 11:59pm on Wednesday, March 5, and no late applications will be accepted. Company visits often include a presentation, panel discussion, and Q&A, but can also include tours of the office/trading floor, and in the case of BP this year, 3D virtual reality demonstrations. For more information about this CFT feel free to email ubccompanyfieldtrip@gmail.com or attend the information information session on March 4 at 5pm in GSB 4.332.

On Thursday March 27 we will meet at LittleField Fountain at 5pm and depart for a group dinner at Matt's El Ranchos (there will be one late car leaving for students with evening commitments). After dinner we will drive to Houston and check in to the Houston Marriott Energy Corridor. Company visits will take place during the day in Houston on Friday, March 28, from 8am-5pm, followed by an alumni dinner at 7pm at the Texas Land and Cattle in the Energy Corridor.

If you are selected to attend this CFT you will know by the morning of Thursday, March 6, the day after application close. You will then have until Friday, March 7 at noon to confirm your spot by paying the hotel charge online. You will also pay for the group dinners online with the hotel payment and the costs for the first and second night dinner will be about $15 and $30, respectively. If you are not staying in the hotel you can confirm your spot by paying for the dinners. Since we will be carpooling to Houston, we ask students who are not driving to give their driver $15 in gas and parking money each way. The hotel cost will be around $30/night/person (four students to a room with two queen beds) for a total all-inclusive program cost of around $135.
