Some years we have submitted five or more homeschool netball teams, some years just one - it depends on interest gained from our community (keen players!), and support from parents.

PRIMARY (Yrs 1-6): The Netball North Harbour primary competition is 14 weeks long with 7 grading games in term 2 and 7 competition games in term 3. Games can be at random times so a commitment from players is required between 4pm and 7.10pm during the season. Yr 4 & 5 play quarterly rotations. Hoops at 2.6m height and size 4 balls. Yr 6 have no rotations (straight netball as per normal rules) and have 3.05m high hoop and play with a size 5 ball. (No play on Queen’s Birthday nor during the July School Holidays.)
ANZ Future Ferns is for Yr 1 to 3 players. This is a 10 week competition.* It is a modified game to allow the younger players to develop basic skills without worrying too much about positions.
Mixed teams are accepted up to Year 8 in the Winter comp, and in most Social Leagues.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------HASCA Homeschool Netball Teams – Information …
HASCA has been coordinating and supporting homeschool sports teams since 2002! We enter homeschool teams into Netball North Harbour Competitions which play at the Barfoot & Thompson Netball Centre in Northcote, on Auckland’s North Shore. Our homeschool teams compete against local Primary, Intermediate, and High School teams.
The inter-school Winter Competitions run in terms 2 & 3, these are competitive but a great deal of fun!
Netball North Harbour’s Social Leagues – Summer & Spring – run in terms 1 & 4.
Our HASCA homeschool netball team entries are based on interest and the number of children wanting to play within each grade/year. On occasion we may combine two grades to ensure team entry but will only do this if the age range and experience is suitable and approved by NNH’s Games Committee. (If we have a mixed team covering two grades, the team will usually need to play up in the higher grade.)
_______________________________________HELP & PARENT CONTRIBUTION ….
HASCA netball team entry is highly dependent on PARENTAL SUPPORT; each team must have a coach, manager, and an umpire, so we do need your support to make our teams happen! (An umpire may be an experienced older student or an adult.)
Training & PracticesAll teams hold practices once a week to fit in with coach and player availability. (Often our teams will train prior to their game at NNH’s courts in Northcote.)
LocationAll games are played at Netball North Harbour’s AMI Netball Courts on Northcote Road about 100m from the Northcote off-ramp.
Coaches & ManagersAll HASCA teams rely on voluntary coaches and managers, usually older teens or parents. All new coaches will be given the opportunity to attend a coaching workshop.
Experienced umpires for all teams are also required.
Netball Coordinator 2019We need your help! We are in need of a netball coordinator for the 2019 winter season (which commences end of April). This role will see you take registrations and get any homeschool netball teams up and running prior to the season and liase with Netball North Harbour if needed, from then on it is a back-ground support role. Are you willing to help?
*** Teams and sporting opportunities can only happen with the support of keen helpers! ***
Please do consider giving your time to our netballers in 2019, thank you.
___________________________HASCA SupportHASCA provides support through the ability to enter homeschooling into inter-school competitions – normally only for registered schools, provision of HASCA sports uniforms and training gear, and subsidised fees when possible.
We are here to support parents wishing to enter teams under 'HASCA Homeschool', we do not run the actual teams.
Want to volunteer? Do you have a keen Netballer wanting to play? Please indicate your interest, thank you.
