Volunteer With BFR!
Binghamton Food Rescue is a volunteer-driven organization located in Binghamton, New York. We practice rescue of perishable food unnecessarily marked as waste due to the wastefulness of our economic system; we are also blessed to be able to distribute surplus/donation from local farms for free every single week. Our goal is to increase access to nutritious food, mitigate unnecessary food waste, build community, and promote a sustainable local food system.

Opportunities for involvement!


Friday nights:

  • Pick up from Panera as needed basis in collaboration with Good Neighbors Community Food Connection. Drop-off can be coordinated for that night or held until distribution on Saturdays.

    • These pickups are in the evening.

Saturdays:

  • Pick up from the Broome Farmers Market or the Vestal Farmers Market (seasonal) and bring produce to NoMa Community Center located at 30 Main St. in Binghamton prior to distribution at 1:30 p.m. This pick up is midday. 

  • Pick up from two Weis locations; also in collaboration with Good Neighbors. 

  • Help with distribution at NoMa Community Center on Saturdays. 

    • Set up starts at 12:00-12:30p.m. Distribution is 1:30pm to 2:30pm. Clean up can take until around 3pm.

  • Drop off of any leftovers to the various community food boxes around the area!

We also have monthly meetings!

Whatever you have the spoons for is appreciated and valued.

Partnerships:

If you know an individual or business in the community that can/wants to donate excess food reach out to them and us to make a connection.

Reach out often! You never know when you might be the vital connection that helps others gain access.
