Hedgehog and Wildlife Survey

Thank you for helping with this survey, which is a part of the Zoological Society of London's (ZSL's) London HogWatch Project. To gain a better understanding of wild mammal distributions in your neighbourhoods, we are asking about any hedgehog, fox, or badger sightings you may have had within 100m of your home e.g., in your garden/street/local park, as well as any additional hedgehog sightings you may have made across Greater London.

We will use the data to generate a map of Greater London’s hedgehog, fox, and badger populations over time, and inform efforts to conserve London hedgehogs. These results will be shared on our social media platforms once analysis is complete. Follow our Twitter @londonhogwatch and Instagram @hogwatch_zsl to stay in the loop!

By completing this questionnaire you consent to your data being used by third-party researchers, and for your data to be used in future, related studies.

Thank you for your help, for any questions please write to: hogwatch@zsl.org

If you have made any additional hedgehog sightings in Greater London located beyond the 100m scope of your home, please fill in the section below. Please include the approximate coordinates/area of the sightings, the approximate year they were made in, and the surrounding environment type (e.g., garden, allotment,  public greenspace, road or road verge, etc.).

To find the coordinates of your sightings, please click this link https://w3w.co/trips.sleepy.forgot and navigate the map to where you remember seeing any additional hedgehogs. You can do this by manually dragging the map or using the search function to look up the location. If you click on the location, three words will appear, and the symbol to the right will allow you to copy them. Please write or paste them into the answer space below, so we can get a more specific idea of where the hedgehogs were seen.

Please tell us a bit about how you come across these animals in your area. Do you actively seek them out or are they just chance encounters?
