QBTC Bookfair Survey 2015
We’ve been having lots of conversations about what we want the future of the annual Queer Between the Covers (QBtC) bookfair to look like, and we’d love to hear your thoughts and dreams as well. The survey is anonymous, though there is a space at the end to include your name and contact information in case there is anything you’d like us to follow up with you about.

We’ve asked a variety of questions, please fill out as much or little as you want. At the end of the survey there’s a space for general comments if there’s anything else you’d like to add.

2. QUESTIONS ABOUT ACCESSIBILITY
Each year we work to improve accessibility of the bookfair but we are always learning and really appreciate feedback on people’s experiences of the bookfair and love to hear ideas of how to make it more accessible and fun for all.
If you experience limited mobility, how accessible did you find the 2014 QBtC bookfair? What barriers, if any, were there to accessing the bookfair? Do you have suggestions for how we could improve physical accessibility at the bookfair?
If you have chemical sensitivities or reactions to scents, how accessible did you find the space? What barriers, if any, were there to accessing the space? Do you have suggestions for how we could make the space more accessible for people with chemical sensitivities at the bookfair?
Do you have any other thoughts you would like to share with us about accessibility at the bookfair (e.g. childcare, financial access, mental health, food, noise level, location, language, etc.)?
This year we had two harm reduction volunteers at all times, to provide support and mediation towards making the space as comfortable as possible for all participants. Did you think this was effective? Do you have any suggestions for how we could improve this effort?
Do you feel like Queer Between the Covers collective members were available to address concerns when they arose?
Did you feel comfortable and able to express any concerns that arose?
Clear selection
How could we better support you to express your concerns?
3. QUESTIONS ABOUT THE LOCATION OF THE FAIR
Last year, bookfair took place in the Comité Social Centre Sud (1710 Beaudry). Would you like to have the bookfair in the same space again?
Clear selection
Do you feel strongly about the bookfair remaining in the neighborhood of Centre-Sud? If so, please explain why.
Do you know of a space that you feel would be a good fit for the bookfair?
4: QUESTIONS ABOUT SCHEDULE AND GROWTH OF BOOKFAIR
Last year, the bookfair ran from 11 am – 6 pm, with tablers invited to arrive at 10am. What did you think about this time range?
Clear selection
If the schedule did not work for you, please indicate why (did you want it to start or end later/earlier? Did you want it to run longer/shorter, etc.)
The bookfair has been growing over the past few years, attracting more tablers and participants each year. We have been considering making the bookfair a two day event to respond to people’s growing interest.
If the book fair was two days...
If you feel strongly that the bookfair should be one or two days please explain why:
Currently the bookfair does not charge a fee for tablers. Making the bookfair a two day event would be more expensive. Do you think it would be appropriate for QBTC to charge a sliding scale fee for tablers to support the bookfair becoming a two-day event?
5. QUESTIONS FOR PEOPLE COMING TO THE BOOKFAIR FROM OUT OF TOWN
Did you have adequate time to plan your travel to Montréal after receiving confirmation of your registration?  If not, when would you need to hear by to make traveling possible for you?
Were you aware that we have a (small) budget for travel stipends?
Clear selection
Were you aware that we arrange billeting if needed?
Clear selection
If you have requested billeting in the past, do you have any feedback on the way that we have coordinated your accommodations?
As an out of town tabler, did you receive enough support from us to make your stay comfortable?
6. OTHER COMMENTS & OPTIONAL CONTACT INFORMATION
We would love to hear from you if you have other feedback you’d like to share about your experiences with the Queer Between the Covers bookfair.
