We are excited to relaunch our school's Training/Concert Band program for 2025. We would like to hear from beginner students from Years 2-6 who have an interest in joining the Training Band program.
Being a member of the band program provides a deep source of enjoyment, but also requires ongoing commitment. Students will develop skills and attitudes that will last a lifetime. They will perform for other students at school, and for parents and friends at special musical events. Band members will participate in band festivals and local events, and just for the fun of playing music together.
Instruments Played: Woodwind (flute, clarinet, saxophone, etc); Brass (trumpet, trombone, etc)
Format: The initial format will be via private or group lessons after school on Thursday afternoons, with other afternoons potentially available depending upon interest. Students will learn fundamental techniques, rhythm, music theory, and performance skills in a supportive and collaborative environment. The aim is to build students' skills so that they can quickly begin performing in an ensemble environment, the Training Band.
Instrument Trial: An instrument trial can be organised upon request.
Tuition: We are excited to be reintroducing lessons on clarinet, saxophone and trumpet next year with local tutors Danika Pink and Katie Sharpe. Additional instruments are available upon request and subject to interest. Specific details of private tuition availability, options and costs will be provided once we get a clear idea of numbers and overall interest. As a guide however, 30-minute individual lessons will cost around $47, groups of 2 students will cost $30 per student, and groups of 3 students will cost $25 per student.
Instruments: Students are required to have their own instrument. The school has available a wide range of woodwind and brass instruments that are available for hire at a cost of $75 per term.
