Ask Sharon Holbrook: Raising Capable Kids
Kids are capable of so much, but sometimes it's hard to see it. And it can feel tricky for us parents, too: We want to nudge them towards confidence and independence, but we want to maintain our loving relationship and not feel like pushy jerks.

Let me know your dilemma in helping your kids become more capable, and I'll look to the research and expertise to help you find an answer.

Your question may (anonymously) appear in my newsletter, website, or other writing, but I'll never share your personal information. In fact, you don't even have to give your name or email address below (though if you're OK with sharing your email, it may help me to follow up for more details as necessary).

Find out more about me at sharonholbrook.com. On my website, you can also subscribe to my newsletter, where my answer will appear if your question is selected.

How can I help you help your kids become more capable and independent? Do you wonder what's appropriate for their age? Do they resist? Do you worry they won't be able to manage if you transfer more responsibilities to them? Be as specific as you like about ages and situations, and I'll try to help. *
