'DeisTalks Speaker Application 2015

Do you have a great idea? Have you experienced something profound? Are you passionate about a project that you have created or are still working on? And do you want to share that? Apply to give a 'Deistalk!

At 5 pm on March 26, 2015 Education for Students by Students invites you to seize the stage and give a 8-10 minute TED style talk. We believe you, the Brandeis University student, faculty, and staff body have tremendous passion and knowledge; we aim to provide the platform on which you can share your unique ideas through presentation and conversation.

We challenge YOU to develop your ideas and questions to stimulate intellectual discussion in a creative, interactive, and fun environment; by making your ideas accessible to members of this community and beyond. By undertaking this challenge we hope to create leaders, thinkers, and innovators that will change the world.

Students, Alumni, Faculty, and Staff of all disciplines and backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

    Background Information

    What is TED? http://www.ted.com/playlists/77/new_to_ted.html What are the parameters for 'DeisTalks? 1. There will only be one speaker on stage at a time. 2. Talks are limited to the time frame of 8-10 minutes and should be targeted to a general audience. 3. May use power point, AV equipment, instruments, or anything else you feel will be beneficial to your talk. Props are welcomed. Selection Criteria Selections will be made by members of the club Education for Students by Students. We are very interested in what you are passionate about and how these experiences, ideas, and projects, led to who you are today and how they have or will impact you, your family members, friends, and your community. The following criteria will be the basis of all selections. 1. How deeply have you reflected on this idea, project, or experience. 2. How a general audience can relate to your idea, project, or experience. 3. How compelling is your idea, project, or experience. Timeline Application due date: Friday, February 27th, 2015 at 11:59 pm.     Experiential Learning Symposium

    The Department of Experiential Learning will be hosting its annual EL Symposium also on March 26, 2015 from 4:00 - 5:00 pm and 7:00 - 8:00 pm. This will be a forum for students to showcase their experiences with experiential learning. The EL Symposium hopes to highlight students who have engaged in Experiential Learning in and/or out of the classroom and have shown an elevated level of exploration, discovery and innovation.
