A student will not operate any motorized or self-propelled vehicle on school grounds in a manner that is a threat to health and/or safety, or a disruption to the educational process. Driving to school is a privilege, which may be limited or revoked at any time by the administration. The speed limit on campus is 10 miles per hour. A student will not park a motor vehicle on school premises unless he/she/they has/have been issued a parking permit. Parking permits must be visibly displayed and vehicles must be parked only in assigned spaces. Unauthorized vehicles may be towed. The parking permit cost is $5 per year. Those students with a parking permit must agree to follow the Union High School driving/parking guidelines: A current school parking permit must be properly displayed at all times while parked on school property. In order to reduce student costs, one permit may be utilized for up to two vehicles. Proof of insurance and registration must remain in the vehicle at all times. Students must exit their vehicle immediately after arriving on campus. All vehicles should be locked. The parking lot is off limits to students until 2:35 P.M., except for students authorized to leave earlier. An administrator or SRO must approve any other trip to the lot. Once a student has left campus, he/she/they are not to return unless they check-in at the main office. Do not drive on sidewalks, across unpaved surfaces, or across parking spaces. Park only in designated parking spaces. Littering the lot or school grounds will not be tolerated. The school shall not be responsible for any items lost or stolen from your vehicle. It is recommended that you not provide other students rides as you may be held responsible if an accident occurs. Weapons are prohibited from being on campus. There are no exceptions. Profane or inappropriate decals/designs are not permitted on a vehicle that is driven to school by a student. Any vehicle parked on school property is subject to being searched by school officials. Any vehicle used by students to skip school or leave campus without permission may be banned from campus. In addition, the DRIVER of the vehicle may have driving privileges suspended. Violation of any student regulation, parking rule, law or excessive tardiness may result in the student’s parking privilege being suspended or revoked. Students not purchasing a parking tag are subject to receiving a $10.00 parking ticket. Unpaid parking tickets issued by the SRO shall result in a student not being allowed to drive on campus until the tickets are paid.
