Cemetery Workshop Registration
Date: Saturday, October 23, 2021, 10am-2pm
Place: Start at The Dealership, 3558 Lee Road, Shaker Heights

Are you fascinated with history and preservation? Does geology or genealogy interest you? Do you want to roll up your sleeves and learn a new skill? As part of the Warrensville West Cemetery Historic Preservation Plan (learn more at shakeronline.com/cemetery), a partnership with the City of Shaker Heights, Shaker Historical Society, and Shaker Heights Public Library, experts will be training community volunteers in the skills needed to help care for the cemetery’s gravestones. Join us for an engaging, hands-on workshop where you will learn:

• cemetery and monument safety
• The geology of monument stone
• monument styles
• monument photography
• stone cleaning
• stone resetting

Pack your lunch, wear work clothes, bring work gloves, bring a folding chair if you have one, and meet us at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 23 for a pre-workshop presentation at The Dealership, 3558 Lee Road, Shaker Heights. Masks will be required while we are inside the building and social distancing protocols will be required throughout the workshop. After a 30-minute presentation, we’ll head over to the cemetery and get to work. The event will take place rain or shine, so dress accordingly. All participants will be required to sign a waiver upon arrival.
