What is In Vitro Fertilization?
An Assisted reproductive technology commonly referred to as IVF.
IVF is the process of fertilization by extracting the eggs, retrieving a sperm sample and then manually combining the egg and sperm. The embryo is then transferred into the uterus.

So where do I begin? Oh, yes! BABY FEVER
And I donβt mean that lightly, at all. It was the strongest baby fever you can imagine.
I remember seeing babies EVERYWHERE. Billboards, magazine covers, IG, FB, At the store, tv.. well, I can go on and on. Babies were everywhere, you get the point.
At the time I worked for an amazing television company that provided really incredible insurance. I decided to research what was covered and what the process would be like. The moment I read all that would be covered I started crying of joy! I felt like all of the stars were aligning for me and my future child.

Iβm a Get-It-Done type of girl so naturally I did what I do. NOT STOP UNTIL I HAD WHAT I WANTED.
I searched for fertilization clinics in Miami and decided to go for IVFMD. Inquired about the process and was paired up with Dr.Soto. From the moment we began to talk, I already felt like this scary yet exciting process I was about to embark was making sense. It felt right.
So here I am, getting 13 tubes of blood drawn, ultrasounds, filling out info, answering questions and the most exciting of all, picking the donor!

They call it a catalog but since everything is online now a days, I was given a website where I can filter out my ideal donor.
Iβm as Hispanic as they get! Tan skin, brown eyes, curly black hair.. etc. When I imagined my child, I thought of a mixed-ish kid. Somewhat ran skin, green eyes, curly dirty blonde hair.
I filtered out my American donor with dirty blonde hair, green eyes and light skin. Not sure if you know this, but you can only see baby pictures and celebrity look alike.
I fell in love with a donor whose celebrity look alike was Tom Brady. Maybe I was more infatuated than I shouldβve been because Iβm a Patriots fan but, oh well.
So Iβm super excited, I check out the family medical history and it turns out there were many issues that were worrisome.
Womp!! I was So sad.
Letβs start again.
Page 1, page 2........ etc
GASP! I really like this one!
Check this, medical history was nothing worse than a migraine.. hmm I can live with that.
Celebrity look alike? Colton Haynes (Arrow, American Horror Story), Kevin Sorbo (HΓ©rcules from the 80s or 90s) and Clive Standen (Atlantis the show, Taken the show and some others)... All very good looking guys.
We have a winner!!
I studied this donor front and back. Heard his voice recordings, read and reread what he wrote about himself and stared at his baby pictures more than a dozen times a day. It started feeling like I was looking, reading and hearing my own child.
Bam, the vial was purchased.

While I am falling in love with the idea of my future child, I am on birth control so they can control when my body is going to ovulate. Also, in one of the ultrasounds performed, they saw a few small cysts on my ovaries.
Iβve had this problem since I was about 17 years old and birth control was what helped control them according to my Gyno. I am getting ultrasounds once a week while on birth control just to make sure that the cysts were being handled.
One month on birth control turned into one and a half because of the cysts. By then I am getting impatient.
Birth control done!
Here comes the needles. Iβm glad I donβt mind needles nor getting my blood drawn so this wasnβt hard to perform on myself.
Every single day I had to inject my stomach around the belly button with a tiny needle. I would have to call in to a number where the nurse had given me my dosage for the next day or two .. sometimes three.
Iβm not even quite sure how long this went on for.. I want to say 3 or 4 weeks?
Either way, during this time, I was visiting the clinic every other day, literally! I made my appointments at 7am so I can make it to work on time. Blood was being drawn every other day and I was having ultrasounds done to check if my cervix was fine and how much my eggs were growing.
My arms started to look bruised from all of the needles! Iβm sure a person or two at work might have thought I had a bigger problem on my lap! Lol

My eggs were finally at a good size where they can be extracted. The appointment is set for Saturday, March 19, 2016.
Side Note: My cousin was getting married March 18th in Clearwater and I was a bridesmaid. I drove to Clearwater Friday morning, got there at 2pm-ish. Makeup, dress up, go to the wedding, have a blast. Party ended at midnight, I left for 2 hours and got back on the road to Miami. I made it to my place, showered and asked a good friend of mine to drive
