Thank you for your interest in volunteering during Naughty Knowledge by Studio 58 (July 31-August 3, 2025) in Gettysburg, PA). Our event cannot happen without our volunteers. We are looking for people who are helpful, positive, and willing to go the extra mile to help our attendees enjoy a terrific event.

Regular Registration is $149
Type of Compensation: 12-Hour Volunteer ($74 registration
discount, you pay $75) You may be asked to work before the event or arrive
early/stay late by JP or Michelle, depending on your team assignment.
Type of Compensation: 12-Hour Security Volunteer ($99 registration discount, you pay $50) You may be asked to work before the event
or arrive early/stay late by JP or Michelle, depending on your team assignment.
Type of compensation: 6-Hour for
Registration or Food or Photography ($40.00
registration discount, you pay $109.00)
SELECTION CRITERIA
We will select our volunteers based on your:
* Willingness to volunteer and ability to work
during our needed shifts at available jobs
* Established history of volunteering or
leadership with Studio 58, other producers, or community groups
* Specialized expertise for certain positions
(security, playspace monitors, photography/editing), and
* Reputation as a positive, ethical, inclusive
kinkster within the community.
We encourage folks with a wide range of gender
identities/presentations, sexual orientations, power exchanges, BDSM
specialties, races or cultural backgrounds, socioeconomic situations, and/or
those with disabilities to apply.
VOLUNTEER EXPECTATIONS
* Treat
all Guests, Volunteers, Staff, hotel staff, vendors, event hosts and presenters
with respect and dignity and provide a warm welcoming environment that Studio
58 is known for.
* Fulfill
Your Volunteer Duties as Scheduled: Show
up for your shift sober and on time. If for some reason you cannot make or
complete your shift, please let the Volunteer Coordinator or the Manager on
Duty know immediately.
* Complete
Your FULL Volunteer Shift unless you are released earlier by the Volunteer Coordinator, Manager on Duty, Team Lead,
or other Studio 58 Staff.
* Take
care of yourself, ensuring you are resting, eating, hydrating, and attending to
your personal needs so that you are
able to Volunteer.
* Wear
your Volunteer badge. If you have a
Studio 58 T-shirt, please wear it while volunteering.
Other times, wear whatever your little heart does or does not desire.
* Ask
Questions! We are here to help you do your Volunteer duties to the best of
everyone’s abilities! Do not hesitate to seek out the Volunteer Coordinator,
MOD, or Studio 58 Staff to ask for clarification
We will evaluate all interested volunteers, their expertise,
and their desired jobs, along with Studio 58 needs, before making any
decisions. A submitted application does not guarantee we will select you as a
volunteer, nor will it guarantee you the assignment you want. We may ask you to
consider volunteering for another job category where Studio 58 has critical
volunteer needs.
Please wait to hear from us before you register for
the event. When selected as a volunteer, we will send you an email
with your assignment and a registration coupon code that will provide the
correct discount at registration. Rooms can be purchased without registering as rooms can sell out quickly. You are encouraged to register quickly after you receive the discount code.
We anticipate volunteer invitations will be issued on a
rolling basis in March - July 2025, subject to change.
WORK ASSIGNMENTS
Your 12 hours will be scheduled in either 3 x 4-hour shifts
or 4 x 3-hour shifts depending on the Team needs over the workdays.
SECURITY–12 HOUR ONLY. Major Opportunities. Work is
THUR AM/FRI/SAT/SUN AM with 24/7 shifts (4 x three-hour shifts at varying times
of day/night to fulfill your 12 hours). Tasks: entrance security, event-wide
patrolling, troubleshooting attendee issues. Qualities: Calm under pressure,
responsible, excellent customer service, attention to big picture + detail for
security and safety concerns, physical exertion/mobility required. Must be able
to make eye contact and speak with people and challenge anyone who does not
have a badge. Previous security experience appreciated. Indoors.
CREW— 12 HOUR ONLY. Major Opportunities. This task is
split into 2 teams: Set-up & Teardown. Set-up team is Tuesday starting at
9am working until Thursday at Noon. Teardown team starts Sunday at 10am working
until everything put away Monday. Please Note: We need you for either 2½ days,
Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday, or 2 days, Sunday/Monday. Tasks: Set up and
teardown equipment as instructed.
Unloading or loading trailers and moving furniture/equipment throughout
the hotel, including playspaces, pool area/atrium, courtyard, classrooms, and
rooms as needed. Qualities: Must be good with following instructions and
capable of completing tasks individually or with a team; good with hands &
tools; ability to lift and move 30+ pounds individually and heavier items as
part of a team; physical exertion required; any specialized skills desired such
as handyperson, theater or stage design, lighting effects and prior event crew
experience.
PROGRAM LOGISTICS – 12 HOUR ONLY. Major Opportunities for 12 people. Work is THRU/FRI/SAT. Tasks: assisting class sets, presenters, and special event set-ups as a team; activity set-up/teardown/changeover during the event; including equipment moves for classrooms, playspaces, courtyard, pool area/atrium; hanging signage, activity assistance as needed. Other duties: restocking cleaning/health stations, cleaning equipment, vacuum, picking up trash and emptying trash cans; ensure water stations remain full, replenish sheets in sex room and towels in pool area; making popcorn, and other "as needed" tasks under supervision of CofS, Crew Team Lead, and Programing. Qualities: Must be calm, responsible, good with hands; ability to lift and move 30+ pounds individually and heavier items as part of a team; physical exertion required. Ability to travel and work between two hotels.
**Discord and the yapp app are required and the main form of on call communication for Program Logistics positions.**
DECORATIONS– 12 HOUR ONLY. Major Opportunities. This
task is split into 2 teams: Set-up & Teardown. Set-up team is Tuesday
starting at 9am working until Thursday at Noon. Teardown team starts Sunday at
10am working until everything put away Monday. Please Note: We need you for
either 2½ days, Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday, or 2 days, Sunday/Monday. Tasks:
set-up Unloading decorations from trailers into event space, sort and
categorize decorations, assist with decorating). Teardown packing decoration
into totes organized and ready for the next event. Recognizing if something is
damaged or should not be saved, loading things back into storage. Qualities:
Calm, responsible, ability to take a task execute and make it your own,
creativity, ability to lift 10 - 20+ pounds, physical exertion required.
FOOD PREP AND SERVICE–6 HOURS ONLY. 6 opportunities.
Work is THUR/FRI/SAT/SUN. Tasks: Preparation, serving, and clean-up of food for
all Studio 58 catered activities during the event (Midnight Snacks, food prep,
etc.) Qualities: Calm, responsible, ability to lift 20+ pounds, physical exertion
required. Indoors.
PHOTOGRAPHY–12 OR 6 HOUR. Major opportunities for 10
x photographers and 10 x photo editors (please specify which). Work is
THUR/FRI/SAT/SUN). Photographers’ tasks: Help any attendees change their
photography preference by completing a photography waiver and changing their
photo wristband prior to the desired scene. Take photos of consenting attendees
inside the main playspace, leave scene card in visible location, answer any
attendee questions about who/what was photographed or how they view their
photos before purchase. Ensure raw photos are uploaded from individual drives
to the communal storage promptly to enable editing. Photo editors’ tasks: Under
direction from the Lead, the team editor will download and process all raw
images to ensure they comply with Studio 58 rules and photo team standards,
provide excellent customer service for attendees who wish to purchase photos,
assist with the discreet viewing of photographs once processed, ensure any
legal names and payments are kept secure and processed accurately, download
purchased photos to selected media. Qualities: Team
player, calm under pressure, responsible, excellent customer service, wide
knowledge of BDSM or Studio 58 (or willing to learn), ability to use
photographic equipment effectively. Indoors.
PLAYSPACE MONITORS–12 HOUR ONLY. Major Opportunities.
Work is THUR to SAT from 8PM-2AM. Tasks: monitoring BDSM scenes, assist with
playspace logistics, troubleshoot attendee issues inside playspace. Qualities:
Calm under pressure, responsible, excellent customer service, wide knowledge of
BDSM practices and safety from at least 3 years in the scene, physical
exertion/mobility required, any specialized skills in medical/first aid.
Indoors.
REGISTRATION–6 HOURS ONLY IF ARRIVING FRIDAY AND 12 HOURS IF ARRIVING THURSDAY - 6 opportunities. Work is THURS/FRI. Tasks: checking in attendees, ensuring
attendees fill out forms accurately, selling Studio 58 merchandise. Qualities:
Discretion, attention-to-detail, excellent customer service, calm under
pressure. Indoors.
