We, the undersigned GEU/UAW Local 6950 supporters, urge the UConn Administration to bargain intensively with our representatives to reach an agreement as quickly as possible. We are encouraged by how quickly the University recognized our majority and agreed to bargain and expect that same spirit will lead to speedy agreement on a contract that addresses our priorities.
 
Graduate employees teach thousands of students and produce cutting-edge research, making quality, affordable education accessible to our state’s residents and helping bring nearly $150 million in grants and contracts into the university and state budget. A fair union contract and stable work conditions will not only enable graduate employees to focus on continuing to raise the stature of UConn as a research and teaching institution, but also will enable UConn to recruit the top graduate students in their fields.

We therefore urge UConn to agree without delay to a fair and just contract that will make our graduate programs more competitive and create a stronger, more inclusive university community.
