Volunteering - Hockley Hustle Festival 2024
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for this year's Hockley Hustle and Young Hustlers Festivals. 

The Hustle relies on the vital support of our volunteers to help the festival run. All profits from the Hockley Hustle go towards local charities - to date the festival has raised over £200,000. This year, 2024, we are supporting 10 local charities - the most to date!

Time: 9AM - 10PM

Locations: Hockley/Lace Market/Sneinton Market

Role requirements: All volunteers must be aged years 16+. 

Volunteer shifts run between 9am - 10pm and last for 3 hours. In exchange for volunteering you will receive a free festival wristband, exclusive Hockley Hustle t-shirt and our appreciation for supporting the running of the festival. 

Please note, 9am shifts are only for those helping with set up. Shifts running to 10pm are for those volunteering at the silent disco.

T-Shirt Size *
On the day you will be provided with an exclusive festival t-shirt as part of your volunteering role. In order to try and reduce waste, we ask for an approximate size so that we can order our shirt numbers appropriately. 

Please note our t-shirt supplier's sizing tends to run small.

If you have any preference on who you volunteer with or any times you are and aren't available, please let us know so that we can accommodate these. Please also note any particular venues or roles you are interested in the most and we will do our best to accommodate any preference. 

Roles include festival set up, volunteering at a venue, supporting the silent disco, parade chaperone etc.

All responses remain private and are only accessed by the Hustle Volunteer team.
Volunteering Role Commitment *
As a vital part of the Hustle festival, once signed up to volunteer you will receive a confirmation email. If you have not received this email within 5 days please check your spam folder for contact from either carys@hockleyhustle.co.uk or carolina@hockleyhustle.co.uk

You will receive your allocated venue and festival briefing up to 7 days before the festival. This year we are also offering online briefings for volunteers to support with getting the information you may need for the day to feel most comfortable volunteering.

If at any point you have a change in circumstances, can no longer volunteer, or anything is preventing you from volunteering PLEASE contact us to let us know. Where people do not attend to volunteer with no prior warning it can leave the festival without cover and affect the smooth running of the day.

Following the festival we will send out a feedback form about your experience. We are also able to complete references for those who would make use of a these for work purposes.

Please read the below statements and check for understanding and agreement. If you have any questions around our policy statements please contact carys@hockleyhustle.co.uk. Further details about the volunteering role will be send out to you by the volunteer team. 

Please note: Volunteers are not required to give First Aid, act as security, manage teams or carry out any duties other than those depicted in the Volunteer Brief - however it can be beneficial to us, the volunteer or the general public should any unforeseen situations arise.

We will keep your email address on file as we need to contact you before the festival day. Email will be our main method of contact for volunteering.

All content shared is not for financial gain, and only for promotion of the Hustle Collectives' past, current or upcoming events, partners and to further our working relationships with local, independent artists and organisations.

Health & Safety
As a Hockley Hustle volunteer you will be allocated a set shift in advance of up to 3 hours to:
  • Provide information and assistance with general crowd safety throughout the event
  •  Monitor capacity levels and ensure the site is cleared of public in a systematic way whilst supported by venue and festival staff
  • Ensure staff areas are maintained throughout the event
  • Immediately inform Millie Poucher (First Aider) of any accident or emergency.
In exchange we will provide a free wristband with access to the festival for the day, Hockley Hustle merch and a huge thank you from all us.

Covid-19 Compliance
All staff, volunteers and invited organisations/individuals may have a face mask/visor to hand during the event should they wish, and everyone is to be respectful of each others' personal preferences. 

Sanitiser should be available at the stalls, activities, workshops and Wristband Exchanges.
