Donna Marie Mike
Donna Marie Mike (June 9, 1959-Nov 14, 2019)
Donna Marie Mike was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 9, 1959 to Patricia Marie Nichols and Leonard Howell Sr. Patricia later married Cecil Gaston Jr and raised Donna along with their 3 sons, Cecil Gaston III, Messiah Gaston, and Terrance Gaston.
On February 5, 1977, Donna married Arnold “Blue” Mike, and from that union 3 children were born, Corey Jahmal, Corinne Michelle, and Shakeema Monique. Donna and Arnold separated and she met Robert Powell Jr and together raised the children. Donna was educated in the New York City Public school system and her love for caring for others lead her into the Health Services field in which she earned her Certified Nursing Assistant certification from NY. As an adult Donna was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at St. Pauls Baptist Church in NY. In 1993, Donna relocated with her children to Reading, PA. Donna enjoyed spending time with family and could often be found supporting her children and grandchildren events, recitals, celebrations etc. Donna loved her children.
She had an infinity for trying new things and meeting new people. Over the years Donna’s zest for life caused her to develop many friendships and if you became her friend, you were now therefore considered family and to Donna “family was everything”.  There was nothing that she would not do for family. As a sister, cousin, and friend, she was always there to talk to and to encourage. As “Aunt Donna” she would often host sleepovers, cook seafood, and even deliver and raise babies.
Donna loved helping anyone in need. Donna became a foster parent, specifically focusing on caring for teenage mothers and their babies and LGBTQ teenagers. She was professionally accomplished; Donna worked as a CNA at several nursing homes in Reading, completed classes at Reading Area Community College towards her Nursing degree and was lastly employed by Prospectus Berco as a Resident Director.
Donna enjoyed life. She had an infectious smile and loved a good time; she enjoyed traveling, listening to music (especially jazz), singing, dancing, “Rocking Berks County” with inspirational rocks! Donna didn’t just enjoy life, she was “life”.
Donna Marie Mike peacefully departed this earthly life while visiting her daughter in Colorado Springs, CO by simply going to sleep. She is peacefully resting...
