Open Community Fall 2018
This fall, a revamped version of Open Community will become a central piece of our church’s vision to CONNECT, SHARE, and EXPLORE. Every few months, Methodist Temple will host a speaker on a topic relevant to people across Evansville. We plan for Open Community to be truly open to the community. In the five weeks following the lecture, we’ll host a book study for those who want to learn more and to connect with new people.

Join us for our first session on Wednesday, October 10, at 5:30 p.m., as we discuss immigration justice in the United States. Our speaker, Patti Gutierrez, is a writer and consultant for Hispanic Catholic ministries in Kentucky. We will cater in Fazoli’s for this first night. While dinner is free, donations to defray the cost are gratefully accepted.

The book study group will meet in the evening on October 17, 24, and 31, and November 7 and 14, to read and discuss Welcoming the Stranger: Justice, Compassion, and Truth in the Immigration Debate. You can order the book for $5 from our church office beginning September 1. We will provide free childcare every night for infants through fifth graders upon request. Please note that dinner will not be provided for the duration of the book study.
