SPED YOKA UCLA WP Spring Data Capturing March 2017
YOKA teachers just recently gave a common writing task in departments. This form is for YOKA teachers to collect information regarding where kids are at in their writing. This will be considered our Spring data capture.
Each teacher is focusing on ONE class. However, if you gave the writing task in all your classes, feel free to enter all the data here if you would like it compared with data from the Fall.
Our plan was that each department would give a writing task in the Fall, and a similar (or identical) one in the Spring. We'll analyze our student's writing and look at the data -- did it go up, stay the same, or go down, and why? Most importantly, we want to focus on the learnings and the "ah-ha" moments that we see happening for students and ourselves.
For this Spring writing task, we recommend you co-score w/ someone from your Grade Level Content Team. There are different ways you can do this. You can each take a stack of papers and score individually, or you can decide that each paper is going to be scored by both of you. You could also co-score 10 papers, and then start scoring individually. What's most important is that both of you have eyes on a good number of the papers from your Grade Level Content Team, and that you two can have a discussion about what you are noticing.
Once you've completed inputting all your kid's scores into this google form, Norma and Jason will send each teacher a comparison of the Fall vs Spring data. Next week we'll look at that data and analyze it. We'll also pick a student sample to celebrate, you'll write about it and upload that writing to your blog.
Thanks awesome YOKA teachers! We are inspired by your passion and your work with our student!
