I will provide the clay, tools and materials needed to create projects that participants can be proud to share! I can recommend a few additional items but they are not required. You will need to provide an old towel, bug spray and possibly other items if asked (I cannot think of anything at the moment).
An example of a camp activities:
Wet work - working with wet clay to create base elements and forms that will be used later in the week for surface decoration, hand building or alteration
Hand-building - creating forms with firm clay (dishes, birdhouses, yard art)
Underglaze decoration - create art work that will be transferred to a form
Sculpture - create fun shapes and forms
Found items - explore your environment to find natural and household items we can use to create fantastic texture and forms
Texture creation - create your own texture form that can be used over and over again
Glaze technique - learn about dipping and brushed glazes, underglazes, decals
Free time - spend time with the clay to dream up your own creation
Group project - each session will participate in a collaborative art project
Lunch & snack times are worked in during the day
As a side note: I am frequently asked if we will work on similar projects each camp and it's a very good question. Pottery is a journey and it takes time, practice and patience. More than likely we will repeat some projects and with each attempt their work will become more refined. As an example, I have been making cups for a long time and I have yet to make a perfect cup! With all of that said, I do keep every group excited and trying something new.
Please complete the form with as much detail as possible. You will be asked to select your camp date preferences, please pick the two dates that work best for you and I will do my best to accommodate. I will send a camp date confirmation as soon as possible. Please remember that class sizes are kept small so that each participant can get the most of private instruction in a group setting.
Thank you for your interest!
Creatively yours,
Kim Weber
