We, the undersigned residents of Ann Arbor, urge the suspension of the deeply flawed Comprehensive Plan process because:
- The forthcoming Plan will transform land use in all residential areas of the city to allow dense development.
- The Plan is being developed with minimal public awareness.
- The community as a whole has not been engaged in establishing the Plan's goals, and many residents remain uninformed about its potential impacts.
- Both homeowners and renters alike have had little to no opportunity to contribute to the creation of fair and practical strategies that address housing challenges and future growth.
We believe Ann Arbor can and must do better. Meaningful, inclusive, and extensive resident participation will bring the city together. We urge the City Council to suspend the planning process and take steps to unite the community by ensuring all residents are fully informed about the Plan. We urge the Council to restart the process with broader, more direct, and active involvement from residents across all neighborhoods.
