The annual UMN Small Grains Pest Survey is a project funded by the Minnesota Wheat Research and Promotion Council and your wheat checkoff dollars. If you have a wheat field or plan to have one you would
like to submit as a potential site for UMN Extension to survey and contribute to statewide MN pest maps, please use this form.
Email Anthony Hanson (
hans4022@umn.edu) if you have issues submitting with the form. Scouts and will be based in Morris, Moorhead, and Crookston in 2025, so sites should be approximately in the western half of the state. Scouts will travel up to about 1.5 hours driving distance from their location or possibly farther depending on how many fields can be reached.
Latitude and longitude coordinates can be easily found and copied by finding your field in
Google Maps, right clicking, and selecting What's Here? Field locations will not be shared outside the U of M and NDSU pest management teams.
Fields that are relatively accessible from a roadside are preferred.
Submissions will be selected to give the best geographic representations
of study sites. We can provide results for your field, so please include your email for us to send timely updates on scouting results to you. Maps will be available at
https://z.umn.edu/mn-ndsu-wheatipm and alerts will be posted on
Minnesota Crop News. We will also make an effort to email you the data if pest issues are found in your small grains fields. Scouting
will begin sampling in late May or early June on a weekly basis.
