Thank you for your interest in Central Square Theater's Arts and Science Fellowship!
The Youth Underground Arts and Science Fellowship offers a paid opportunity for Cambridge youth ages 14-20 who have not yet started college to delve into a thought-provoking play from our season, engage in dynamic workshops, and explore meaningful themes. The program is rooted in the goals of Central Square Theater’s Youth Underground program – youth development, community engagement, and social change – and expands to incorporate science exploration, in conjunction with CST’s Catalyst Collaborative@MIT (CC@MIT) program. A cohort of six Fellows will:
Dive deep into theater: Explore one of CST’s science plays, Breaking the Code by Hugh Whitemore, and uncover its themes and messages.
Collaborate with peers: Participate in thematic workshops with a mentor and peers.
Discuss and Explore: Investigate questions of science and social justice raised by the play.
Create a public event: Work together to design a public-facing event that sparks dialogue and connects with a Mainstage performance of the play.
Schedule: Fellowship sessions take place on Sundays from February through April .
Stipend: $525
Applications will be available in Fall 2025. Please complete the information below if you'd like us to notify you when the application is open.
