Shujaa is a Swahili word that means "courageous," “brave,” or "hero." It is named in honor of Kenyan Associate Director of the Women's Center and the award's first recipient in 2018.
The Women's Center now bestows the Shujaa Award annually to honor other Northwestern staff who has worked to promote gender equality with courage, tenacity, and dedication to an ethic of care.
Please nominate a Northwestern staff member who is an action leader and catalyst for change in their work on campus.
Nomination requirements:
- a current staff member at Northwestern
- has worked at Northwestern for at least 2 years
- someone who uses their knowledge and experience to make Northwestern a safer, better place.
You may submit multiple nominations.
