AdoboFest COOK OFF RULES *
1. Individuals must file an Entry Form to reserve a spot by Friday, Aug 16, 2013.

2. Adobo should be pre-cooked prior to competition. All food preparation including meat, cutting of vegetables, etc. must be done in a sanitary manner.  All contestants should bring a pot of adobo containing a minimum of 15 “regular” servings.

3. All ingredients must come from approved food sources, so it’s absolutely safe for public consumption.

4. Individuals will be assigned a chaffing dish under canopies to keep your adobo warm throughout the event. You do not need to be next to your adobo during the event. We will be creating an “information” sheet that you can fill out upon arrival with your name, picture, name of adobo and ingredients and place it next to your adobo.

5. The site will open at 10:30 a.m. for registration and set up. AdoboFest will open to the public at 12 p.m.  A mandatory meeting with all contestants to review rules and program for the day will be held at 11:30 a.m., so please do not be late.

6. Upon arrival, each contestant will be asked to store a portion of their adobo for the judges in a container provided. Each container will be labeled and stored in a refrigerator. The audience will be voting for their favorite adobo and the top 3 will move on to live judging by our esteemed judges at 3pm.   Each of the top 3 contestants will be able to retrieve their stored adobo    and heat it up on a portable stovetop right before they present their adobo to the judges. Judges will announce the AdoboFest Cook-off winner around 3:30 p.m. The winning contestant will be presented with a big bragging-rights trophy, $100 cash prize, and an invitation to have their adobo featured in the “Jose Rizal” sandwich at the Beacon Ave Sandwich Shop. The decision of the judges is final.

7. Each contestant will donate their adobo to AdoboFest for consumption and sale that day. Adobo will be available to the public starting at 12 p.m. Contestants DO NOT have to be with their adobo during tasting unless you choose to.  AdoboFest staff will be assigned to create tasting size portions of your adobo if you choose not to be with your adobo.  However, remember that the top 3 adobo entries that move on to live judging will be chosen by the audience. It’s up to you to entice the audience to taste your adobo and cast their vote for you.  Tasting cups, spoons, rice, and tickets will be provided by AdoboFest.
