The purpose of the Community Resilience Engaging Advanced Training and Education (C.R.E.A.T.E) will be to enhance awareness of the disciplines of Industrial Systems and Technology (with a concentration in Emergency Management), Computer Science, and Psychology. Those who meet the specified criteria in these respective disciplines (only) have the opportunity to the scholarship award.
The C.R.E.A.T.E. program encourages underrepresented undergraduate minority students to enter undergraduate programs and to pursue careers in Emergency Management with the S.T.E.M. emphasis, specifically, Emergency Management and/or Disaster Preparedness.
Undergraduate Scholarship Details:
Eligibility
•
Applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
•
Applicant must have a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.20 or higher on a 4.00 scale upon graduation.
•
If applicant has earned a bachelor's degree as of the application deadline, you are ineligible.
•
Applicant must be accepted into Jackson State University and enrolled in Industrial Systems and Technology (with a concentration in Emergency Management), Computer Science, and Psychology.
•
Applicant must be a full-time enrolled (12 hours or more) student to be eligible.
•
If awarded the scholarship, the applicant must maintain a 3.20 GPA (cumulative) or higher to retain the scholar and not withdraw from courses unless an official documented cause of withdrawal. If cumulative G.P.A. falls below 3.20, there will be a review to determine if the scholarship award will continue.

Applicant must also complete a 500 to 1000-word statement of purpose that a panel will review indicated your interest in emergency management and preparedness and plans to contribute to the discipline after completion of the degree.

Applicant must submit two letters of recommendation from those familiar with the applicant’s academic performance, technical ability, and work ethic.
Stipend
•
$5,000 per year, $500.00 per month (there may be some adjustments based on met criteria and available funding)
•
Funding for summer internship stipend (with completed work assignment(s))
Duration
•
Given satisfactory academic progress (with a 3.20 GPA or above) and availability of funding.
•
The scholarship committee will review transcripts after each semester.
