SEPA Teacher Workshop June 15-18: Aquaponics

DEADLINE to REGISTER for this workshop: MAY 15, 2015

Aquaponics is a closed-loop, sustainable farming method that combines traditional aquaculture (raising aquatic animals) and hydroponics (growing plants without soil). It uses 90% less water than traditional farming.

Participants will build a tabletop sized system and learn how to manage it. Participants will identify ways to use the systems across the curriculum. There is a limit of 24 attendees.

All materials will be provided. A stipend of $70 per day will be paid to eligible teachers (from partner schools) for attending the workshop. Teachers from partner schools that live more than 70 miles away will also receive a flat travel stipend of $70 to help with fuel costs. Teachers not staying overnight and those driving a school vehicle will be reimbursed differently. Lunch and snacks will be provided (see schedule for details). All teachers that register for a workshop are eligible for free overnight lodging at the Marina Inn in a double occupancy room to be shared with a teacher of the same gender.
