UEA Academic Affairs Committee Application, Fall 2023

Let us know about yourself and your interests! Applications will be evaluated based on the quality of your response, rather than on your previous economics coursework.

Academic Affairs is the intellectual arm of UEA, meant for those who wish to learn about current economic issues in a casual environment with their peers. Each week (once meetings start) we discuss various topics such as monetary policy, trade protectionism, and politics, and conduct interactive games that teach game theoretic principles. In addition, we host economic salon events wherein the larger campus community is invited to explore a significant economic topic and its implications with us over dinner, as well as professor luncheons where we explore current topics in their economics research in a cordial setting.

IMPORTANT: In order to be an AA Committee member, you must be a UEA lifetime member, which entails paying a one-time $30 fee through Venmo (@Ana_Ginzb). Please email Shami and/or Rhea at <ucberkeleyuea@gmail.com> with any concerns regarding membership fees.

We would also like to share that UEA has set up a general resource fund with the goal of providing financial assistance to its lifetime members. This funding can help pay for books, formal business attire for interviews, or any other costs that are relevant to education. We have the means to provide up to $50 of financial assistance. If you join a committee and any foreseeable costs (membership fee, etc.) present a concern for you, please feel free to communicate with us or fill out the form here.
