The Homewood City Schools Foundation wants to recognize the wonderful teachers in our system with the 2018 Teacher Impact Award. Educators, parents, administrators, and students are encouraged to submit a nomination for a teacher who has made a difference in someone’s life.
One teacher will be selected from each school and will receive $500 to go towards classroom materials or professional development. Award recipients will be recognized at Homewood Grown this spring.
• Your nominee must be a current Homewood City Schools teacher.• He or she must have served a minimum of three years in the system. • Nominees must deliver instructional content to students (i.e., teach a class).
Nominees for this award should exhibit the following characteristics:
• Encourages the desire to learn• Engages, challenges and inspires students• Fosters a creative and innovative approach to learning• Strives to connect with each student and provides access to a variety of learningopportunities• Goes above and beyond in the classroom to make learning exciting• Respects the opinions of students and staff and is respected by them in return• Shows kindness to students in and out of the classroom• Sets a positive example for both young people and adults• Is committed to making an overall difference within his/her school• Is diligent in his/her work and encourages the same among his/her students• Sets a high standard for himself/herself
Note that selection is based on the impact the teacher has made on you or your family rather than the number of nominations he or she receives. If completing the form is daunting, we encourage you to collaborate with others on a nomination. We also recommend that forms submitted by students aged 10 or younger be accompanied by a letter from a parent or guardian.
All submissions will remain anonymous and confidential throughout the selection process.
Previous Teacher Impact Award recipients are not eligible for nomination. See our website for a current list of winners.
