For the Spring semester of 2026, we will be reading
Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach. While the book club is run by the Forensic Science Association, it is open to all students. We will meet on Zoom, though the frequency of these meetings will be determined based on answers to this form. We will also plan one in person meeting at the end of the semester where we can all hang out, discuss the book and our interests, and have some snacks. Please fill out this form to indicate your interest in participating. Please fill out the form by January 16, 2026 at 5 PM EST.
You may purchase the novel for yourself, or you may use the free PDF that will be shared with you via a Google Drive. This drive will also include supplemental readings and videos if you would like to dive deeper into the content, but interaction with the supplemental materials is not required for participation in the book club.
Content warning: Stiff if a nonfiction book that is known for being somewhat funny and lighthearted; however, the text deals with themes of death, mutilation, cannibalism, etc. Please be aware that we will be discussing these taboo topics, and possibly the customs of other cultures, in detail during these meetings. We would like to ensure a comfortable, respectful environment in which all members can express their opinions freely with respect to the content of the book.
