Yacumama Community Residency Application
Welcome to the Yacumama Residency Program

Yacumama is a nature sanctuary & community devoted to permaculture, indigenous culture, expansion of consciousness and regeneration of the spirit of humanity.

Yacumama means "Mother of the Waters" in Quechua. This pristine place offers a deep immersion into nature - just being here connected to the pure energy of the land and waters is healing in itself.

Located in Ojochal, Costa Rica, 1000 feet above sea level on the Pacific coast, we are surrounded by lush verdant mountains.  The land is blessed with vast ocean vistas and abundant spring water that feeds a creek on the west, flowing parallel to a river with cascades & pools on the east. Pristine beaches where the jungle meets the ocean are a 10-20 minute drive to swim & surf in warm crystal clear waters.

About half of the nearly 100 acres is forest, home to abundant wildlife with mature trees and incredible biodiversity. We have ocean breezes throughout the day and cool air from the forested mountains that descends in the evenings.

How the Yacumama Residency Works

Our residency program invites you to live on the land, immersing yourself in community life and nature. Whether you choose to stay for a week or a month, this experience offers you the opportunity to deepen your connection to the Earth and engage in meaningful co-creation. You will live alongside like-minded individuals, contributing to the growth of the Yacumama community while focusing on your personal projects, practices, or spiritual journey.

* December–March: During this period, we host transformational immersions, offering limited opportunities for residential stays. The energy of the land is particularly potent, and we invite you to join us for an experience of deep spiritual nourishment.

* April–November: This is the season for conscious co-living, co-working, and co-creation. Residents can stay for a week or many months, participating in the ongoing development of Yacumama and the growth of our community. During this time, smaller groups may also visit for specialized programs, and we will inform residents in advance.
