Are you a woman of foreign origin? Do you want to strengthen your skills and abilities? Are you looking for work or to set up your own business? Are you vulnerable because of lack of language skills and network in Iceland or have you experienced abuse or other forms of violence?
The Directorate of Labour in Iceland is one of four participants in a European project called EMPOWER, but other partners come from the UK, Lithuania and Greece. The aim of the project is twofold: To develop training materials for women of foreign origin and support workers and volunteers who work with women of foreign origin.
The training gives women the opportunity to develop their personal skills and competences and increase their employability. If the participants have a business idea, they will get assistance in developing them.
The training consists of 8 training modules with the focus on developing strengths and abilities, to strengthen the positive attributes and resilience and goal setting.
The training starts on the January 11th. to February 22, a total of 4 days with two modules delivered in one day.
Training dates:
11.01.2018 9.30-16.00
25.01.2018 - 9.30 - 16.00
8.2.2018 - 9.30-16.00
22.02.2018 - 9.30 - 16.00
On the following week, we will offer the participants to join Mentoring Circles where they get a chance to reflect more deeply on issues and problems they are facing. The training has a limited number of participants, 10 places in the training and 5 in the mentoring circles.
The training will be delivered in English so a good proficiency in English is necessary for participants.
The training is funded by the European Union and therefore free of charge.
The deadline for applications is on the 31th of December.
