Dar Brooklyn: Chaabi For Her!
“There is power in unity and there is power in numbers” (Dr. MLK,1963)

If you are a woman/girl, and don't play a drum, if you sing or not, or were told or told yourself that you lacked the ear, rhythm, focus and/or self-confidence, Dar Brooklyn is For You!

Research shows that learning to play music and to sing in a group keeps the wits and the body young by "growing brains", harmonizing the brain waves, the heartbeat, our movements and our natural connection to each other.

Current Location:
Dyker Auditorium @ Dyker Brooklyn Public Library
8202 13th Ave. @ 82nd St, Brooklyn, NY 11228

These FREE classes are for beginners that will walk you from nothing to being able to perform within a few weeks time. Drums provided.

We'll learn to sing and drum North-African folk (Chaabi) songs, and we'll perform a show for our loved ones (online show). We'll offer a repertoire of songs on immigration and love.

Classes are taught in English/Arabic/Spanish/French by Dr. Jihene Serkhane - 646 323 0573 - jiheneserkhane@gmail.com
"Dar Brooklyn: Chaabi For Her!" is a prerequisite for joining the (soon to be all-women:) drum and voice sections of the NY Chaabi Orchestra.

If you have specific challenges in the way (hearing impairment , recovering from a stroke, any disability/injuries, language barriers) or need a babysitter to do the drum class, please let us know ahead of time.
We'll do our best to make your participation possible and enjoyable.

In Sisterhood, Unity and Numbers :-)
