CivicSciTV Journal Submission Form
The CivicSciTV Journal is a program on the CivicSciTV Network that features video abstracts directly from authors about their latest peer reviewed research in various civic science areas (e.g., public engagement, community science, science policy, science communication, science journalism etc) that is published in the last 2-3 years. The analogy is that the CivicSciTV Journal is Jove but for civic science. The main goal is to make civic science scholarship more accessible and actionable for diverse stakeholders.

Thank you for your interest in submitting a video abstract. Please submit the required information below to submit your entry. We encourage you to read the whole application first, submit your video entry using the Sendspark link below, then come back to here to complete the rest of the application. 1. Maximum Duration: Videos must be no longer than 8 minutes. Submissions exceeding this length will not be accepted. Ensure you are centered in the video and in landscape mode.

  2. Script: Start by introducing yourself, including your name and your organization affiliation. Then proceed to state the details of the publication (e.g., journal name, date, your co-authors etc). Then go on to describe the research question(s), the approach/methods used, and the key findings. Structure your presentation in a clear and engaging way to ensure it is logical and easy to follow for a broad audience. Feel free to incorporate creative elements, such as humor, to maintain viewer interest as you see fit. In your conclusion (the most important part), focus on one or two actionable insights from your paper that stakeholders listening/watching—ranging from researchers at various stages and fields, to practitioners like funders, educators, founders, science communicators, science engagers, program directors, policymakers, and also, local community leaders—can apply in addressing existing challenges. Make sure to mention who the target audience is for the actionable insights.

  3. Visuals and Media: Visuals and media elements, such as charts, graphs, and video clips, are not needed. In fact, we encourage submissions where it is just the author(s) speaking.  However, those wishing to include visuals should integrate them into the final video externally before submitting them via Sendspark.

All entries must be submitted using Sendspark which is a platform that allows users to record a video or upload an already recorded video from outside the platform such as Zoom. No other method of submission will be accepted except through Sendspark.
