Survey on Socio-Technical Design and Collaboration in Environmental Research Education

Greetings!,

My name is Rafael Luis T. Villegas, a 4th-year Architecture student from Mapúa University. I am currently conducting my Architectural Thesis titled:“Designing Through Collaboration: Integrating Socio-Technical Principles in the Spatial Architecture of Research Facilities — A Proposed Northern Sierra Madre Biodiversity and Wildlife Research Center.”

This study aims to understand how collaborative environments and socio-technical design principles—which consider the interaction between people, technology, and space—can improve the design and performance of research facilities.

Specifically, the research seeks to gather insights from researchers, students, and professionals engaged in agriculture, forestry, and environmental sciences to identify how physical space affects collaboration, productivity, and innovation. The findings will guide the design of a model biodiversity research and education complex that promotes interdisciplinary cooperation and sustainable research practices.

Your participation in this short online survey (estimated completion time: 12–15 minutes) will help identify the needs and preferences of researchers like you, who are directly involved in the development and use of scientific facilities.

All responses will be kept strictly confidential and will only be used for academic purposes in compliance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012.

Your insights will be extremely valuable in shaping a design framework that supports collaboration, innovation, and environmental stewardship in research spaces.

Thank you very much for your time and support!
