The Junior State of America has dissolved due to financial reasons, and the Council of Governors have created a new organization called the Civic Leaders of America so delegates can continue to have a space where they can become civically engaged.
Mission Statement:
“Civic Leaders of America is an entirely student-led organization with the mission of fostering civic engagement among high schoolers through regular debates, local conventions, information about current events, and activism and volunteering opportunities. We provide students a platform to voice their opinions and engage in meaningful discussions, and we hope that through our activities, students will develop their own unique and informed worldview and create the change they want to see.”
Our vision is to place more emphasis on regional conventions, virtual events, and activism. The Civic Leaders of America is not a clone of JSA; CLA takes everything we love about JSA and combines it with new and improved aspects that give more power to chapters. We envision that CLA as an organization will provide members with opportunities to learn what they really believe in our world (essentially shaping your worldview, however we will not tell you WHAT to think, but HOW to think) and go out and create change based on those beliefs.
Please fill out this form if you want to join our organization. We welcome you to brainstorm things you enjoyed about JSA and things you did not, as well as other aspects you believe a civics organization should have. We hope that CLA will become the only civics organization people need to join; in order to achieve that goal, we need you to help us understand what CLA can provide to you. There are questions for you to express your ideas, so please write as much as you want. Your opinions are greatly appreciated.
Additionally, follow @civicleadersofamerica on Instagram and share this form to anybody that was either in JSA previously or who is interested in becoming more politically involved.
