We are delighted to welcome you to the upcoming The States of Korean Adoption: A Symposium! 
The State of Korean Adoption is a 2-day symposium that considers the world’s longest-running and largest transnational adoption program. The symposium will take place on June 2 and 3 at UC Irvine.
Day 1 (in person only) features renowned poet and Korean-Danish adoptee Maja Lee Langvad for a reading and discussion of her award-winning book HUN ER VRED (She is Angry). 
    Time: June 2, 15:30-17:00 PST (reception to follow) 
    Location: McCormick Screening Room, 1070 Humanities Gateway
Day 2 (hybrid) brings together scholars and activists from Denmark, Sweden, Australia, the UK, the U.S., and South Korea to reflect upon the states of South Korean transnational adoption: from its historical formation and current political, economic, and social conditions to its future relations with the South Korean nation and state. 
    Time: June 3, 9:00-17:00 PST (reception starts at 8:30; lunch will be provided with various dietary options)
    Location: 1030 Humanities Gateway and over Zoom
Please note that we will have a quiet room (Humanities Gateway 1002) and space for childcare-related needs (Humanities Gateway 1012) available. This will be a scent-free event, so we kindly ask that attendees refrain from wearing scented products. Wearing a mask is recommended.
