Journalists are invited to submit entries for consideration for the inaugural Humanitarian Reporting Award 2017. This prestigious award is being organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Centre for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ-IBA). The award will focus on work produced in the field of humanitarian reporting and will be offered in three categories:
Mainstream Broadcast (Urdu); Mainstream Print & Online (Urdu); Mainstream Print & Online (English)
Participants can send stories/packages that they have done on humanitarian issues produced from November 1, 2016 to November 9, 2017. Ideally, these should be stories that have focused on a specific humanitarian issue, including but not limited to: violence against healthcare, disaster reporting, issues related to people with disabilities, disaster response/preparedness, population movement (refugees/IDPs), climate change impact, etc. Stories done by beat reporters will be given priority.
The award is open to all journalists irrespective of their affiliation or employer. Content will be judged for its originality and quality of work. Series of articles on humanitarian issues will be given special consideration.
Submissions will be considered in Urdu and English. To qualify, the work must have been used in the mainstream media or a district correspondent. Where a byline is not given, the onus rests on the applicant to prove that this is his/her work.
