New York Watchdog Workshop Fellowship Application

Elevate your investigative and data skills by applying for an IRE fellowship for professional development training at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY, January 23-24, 2026.

All are welcome to apply; preference will be given to journalists who work for outlets dedicated to covering historically marginalized and/or underrepresented communities and to journalists of color. Financial need will be considered.

The New York Watchdog workshop fellowship includes a complimentary one-year membership or membership renewal and complimentary registration. Fellowships do not include travel or lodging assistance.

- All recipients are required to meet IRE's membership standards, including: Someone substantially engaged in news gathering, presentation or production; someone engaged full-time in research or teaching in the field of journalism; college students pursuing a degree and recent graduates who are not yet working. 
- Application requires: resume or LinkedIn profile.
- Application requires: one to two clips of investigative or journalistic work, if applicable.
